Incheon Airport to Seoul 2026 — AREX Express vs All-stop, Bus, Taxi

인천국제공항 제1여객터미널 출국장

Two big bags? The limousine bus is kinder. Heading straight to Hongdae on a budget? Take the All-stop train. From Incheon Airport into Seoul you choose among the AREX Express, the AREX All-stop, airport buses, and taxis — and the fares and times do not line up in a single neat row.

Adult one-way figures below follow AREX passenger pages and Incheon Airport’s English transport guides (checked September 2026).

Express vs All-stop — what actually differs

AREX runs two products on the same corridor. The Express Train is nonstop between Seoul Station and Incheon Airport T1/T2 with a reserved seat. The All-stop (commuter) train calls at every AREX station, including Hongik University (Hongdae), and you ride with a transit card.

Express All-stop
Stops Seoul Station, T1, T2 only All AREX stations (incl. Hongdae)
Time Seoul↔T1 / T2 43 / 51 min About 59–66 min to Seoul Station (journey-dependent)
Adult fare Selling fare KRW 13,000 (child / eligible discount KRW 9,500) T1→Seoul KRW 4,750 / T2→Seoul KRW 5,350 (transit card)
Hongdae No direct stop (transfer at Seoul) T1 KRW 4,650 / T2 KRW 5,250
Payment Express ticket (online / app / machine / counter); seat reserved T-money, WOWPASS, other transit cards; or single-use (+KRW 100, KRW 500 deposit)
Frequency Roughly every 20–40+ min (check timetable) More frequent commuter intervals

Approved full fares are listed as KRW 18,500 (Seoul↔T1) and KRW 19,100 (Seoul↔T2), but the selling fare adults pay is KRW 13,000. Tapping T-money on an Express gate does not work.

All-stop — Hongdae and Seoul Station fares

After the 28 June 2025 metropolitan base-fare revision, adult prepaid/postpaid card one-way fares are:

From \ To Seoul Station Hongik Univ. Gongdeok
Incheon Airport T1 4,750 4,650 4,650
Incheon Airport T2 5,350 5,250 5,250

Single-use tickets add KRW 100; the KRW 500 deposit is refundable at arrival. All-stop works with transit cards; Climate Card short-term tourist boarding rules at the airport stations follow a separate product policy.

AREX All-stop fare table lists the T1/T2 → Seoul / Hongdae amounts.

Airport bus — daytime direct and late night

For hotel stops along Gangnam or Myeongdong corridors with heavy luggage, an airport limousine bus is often the least stressful option. Per Incheon Airport’s English Seoul-area daytime table (stamp updated August 2024), Seoul ↔ ICN Direct is KRW 17,000 adult / KRW 12,000 child; via Gimpo is KRW 16,000 / 12,000. Recheck your exact route in Bus Search before you go — some lines differ.

From the airport, buy at a booth or kiosk (or the listed app). Do not assume a simple T-money tap covers outbound boarding. City→airport stops often take cards or credit.

Product Adult KRW Child KRW Notes
Seoul ↔ ICN Direct (daytime table) 17,000 12,000 airport.kr EN; Aug 2024 stamp
Seoul ↔ ICN via Gimpo 16,000 12,000 same source
Late-night N6000 17,000 10,000 Gangnam Express Bus Terminal etc.
Late-night N6701 / N6703 18,000 12,000 Seoul Station etc.

Late-night buses matter after the last AREX. Sample times: N6000 T2→Gangnam EBT ~90 min; N6701 T2→Seoul Station ~80 min. Traffic can stretch that to 60–90+ minutes. Operators: Airport Limousine 02-2664-9898; Korea Airport Limousine 02-2667-0386.

Taxi — meter vs zone flat fare

Standard mid-size taxi base fare for Seoul / Gyeonggi / Incheon is KRW 4,800. Deluxe / Jumbo (9-seater) base is KRW 7,000. Night surcharge (Seoul/Incheon standard): 40% 23:00–02:00, 20% 22:00–23:00 and 02:00–04:00; Gyeonggi standard often 30% 23:00–04:00. Highway tolls are extra — Yeongjong (Airport Expressway) passenger upper about KRW 3,200 one-way; Incheon Bridge passenger about KRW 2,000 from 18 December 2025.

Use taxis when you need door-to-door drop-off, but do not treat any single hotel total as fixed: destination, traffic, night surcharge, and tolls all move the meter. Use designated stands; ignore solicitation.

International Taxi sells Seoul zone flat fares (tolls included / no night surcharge on the zone product per operator English copy). Standard roughly KRW 70,000–95,000 by district; Deluxe/Large about KRW 100,000–140,000. Book about 24 hours ahead when you can. Phones 1644-2255 / 032-743-2357; booking site intltaxi.co.kr (EN).

Which option for which destination

Start with where you sleep. Seoul Station / City Airport Terminal (CAT) / reserved seat / punctual rail → Express. Hongdae / budget / frequency → All-stop. Heavy bags to a hotel bus stop on Gangnam–Myeongdong corridors → limousine. After the last AREX → night bus or taxi.

For two adults T1→Seoul Station: Express KRW 26,000 in 43 minutes; All-stop KRW 9,500 in about an hour; daytime direct bus KRW 34,000 and often 60–90+ minutes in traffic. Three or more people with hotel-front drop-off should compare limousine totals with International Taxi zone fares (~KRW 70k–95k Standard).

Seoul Station and Hongdae

Seoul Station alone: Express’s 43 / 51 minutes is the shortest train ride. A long Express wait can erase the ~15–16 minute official running-time gap versus All-stop. Final stop Hongdae: All-stop goes direct at T1 KRW 4,650 / T2 KRW 5,250. Express forces a transfer at Seoul Station.

One adult light on luggage to Hongdae usually saves about KRW 8,000 on All-stop versus Express. Two or three people who want seats should line up Express totals against limousine totals.

Gangnam, Myeongdong, hotel stops

Airport buses cut transfer hassle when the hotel sits on a published stop. Use ~KRW 17,000 adult daytime direct as a planning baseline, then confirm bay and fare in Bus Search the same day. Metered taxis often cost more once tolls and night surcharge stack. To cap the bill, book International Taxi’s zone product.

After the last AREX

If the last Express leaves T2 around 22:40, later arrivals use night buses (N6000 KRW 17,000, N6701/N6703 KRW 18,000) or taxis. Compare metered night+toll totals with the zone flat fare before you choose.

FAQ

Can I ride Express with T-money?

No. Express needs its own ticket and reserved seat. Only All-stop takes T-money, WOWPASS, other transit cards, or a single-use ticket.

Is Express always 30+ minutes faster?

Official train running times differ by roughly 15–16 minutes to Seoul Station. A long Express wait shrinks the real-world gain. Do not bank on a fixed “always 30+ minutes saved.”

Child fares?

Express selling fare: child / eligible discount KRW 9,500. Daytime direct bus child KRW 12,000; N6000 child KRW 10,000; N6701/N6703 child KRW 12,000. All-stop child/senior discounts follow transit-card rules and ID where required.

Does landing at T2 cost more?

All-stop card: T2→Seoul KRW 5,350 vs T1→Seoul KRW 4,750. Express selling fare stays KRW 13,000 for both terminals; time is 51 min (T2) vs 43 min (T1). From T2 you pay KRW 600 more on All-stop and ride eight minutes longer on Express.

Is the taxi total a fixed number?

Metered taxis start at KRW 4,800 and add distance, time, night surcharge, and tolls — totals swing. For a ceiling, use International Taxi zone fares (Standard about KRW 70,000–95,000).

Where do I buy tickets?

Express: airportrailroad.com, app, machines, Express customer centers. All-stop: transit card or station single-use. Buses: airport booth/kiosk/listed app; many city stops take card or cash. Overview: Incheon Airport English railroad guide. Recheck first/last trains and bus bays on the day of travel.
