Walking the Suwon Hwaseong Fortress walls is free and always open. The main paid zone is Hwaseong Haenggung (with Hwaryeongjeon): ₩2,000 for an adult individual ticket. The Hwaseong tourist trolley (화성어차) is ₩6,000 for adults. Small-car parking at Haenggung or Yeonmudae starts at ₩900 for the first 30 minutes. Figures follow the Suwon Cultural Foundation visitor guide and the English price page.
The UNESCO fortress walls stretch about 5.7 km. For a Seoul day trip, Haenggung plus one wall section—or one trolley loop—already fills half a day. Recheck the Foundation pages before you go; hours and events can change.

How much does it cost — free walls, ₩2,000 Haenggung
The fortress is an open heritage site with no wall ticket. You pay for Haenggung / Hwaryeongjeon: adults ₩2,000, youth & military ₩1,500, children ₩1,000 (groups of 20+: ₩1,500 / ₩1,200 / ₩800). Free or waived cases include hanbok (including modernized hanbok), visitors 65+ with ID, preschool children 6 and under, registered disability card holders (severe grades include one caregiver), and Culture Day (last Wednesday each month) for daytime Haenggung—not night opening.
| Item | Adult | Youth / military | Child |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fortress walls | Free | Free | Free |
| Haenggung + Hwaryeongjeon (individual) | ₩2,000 | ₩1,500 | ₩1,000 |
| Haenggung (group 20+) | ₩1,500 | ₩1,200 | ₩800 |
| Combo 3 sites (individual) | ₩4,000 | ₩2,500 | ₩1,000 |
| Hwaseong trolley (individual) | ₩6,000 | ₩3,500 | ₩2,000 |
The combo covers Haenggung, Suwon Hwaseong Museum, and Suwon Museum. Museums close on the first Monday of each month, when combo tickets may be unavailable. If you only want the palace grounds, buy the single Haenggung ticket.
Hanbok and Culture Day
Wearing hanbok waives Haenggung admission. Culture Day free entry excludes night opening. Traditional archery is separate: ₩3,000 for 10 shots.

Hours — Haenggung 09:00–18:00; walls also at night
The Foundation lists Haenggung as 09:00–18:00 year-round, open every day, with last admission one hour before closing (enter by 17:00). Walls stay open for night walks. Some VisitKorea pages still show a shorter winter Haenggung schedule; prefer the Foundation guide on the day you visit.
2026 night opening: 1 May–1 November, Fri–Sun and public holidays, 18:00–21:30 (last entry 21:00). Same ticket prices as daytime. Details: night opening page.
What you cannot bring in
Flammables and weapons, alcohol, camping gear (tents, mats, shade tents), cooking tools, and pets (except certified guide dogs) are restricted inside Haenggung. Drinking, smoking, and loud disruption can get you stopped at the gate.

Getting there — Line 1, Suin–Bundang, and buses
The easiest rail hub is Suwon Station (Line 1 / Suin–Bundang). Foundation directions list city buses 11, 13 (exit 4 / Novotel), 60, 7-2 (exit 7 / AK Plaza), and 700-2 from the transfer center to the Haenggung stop, then about a 5-minute walk. From Maegyo Station (Suin–Bundang), transfer to buses such as 112 or 25. From Seoul, express options include Gangnam 3000 (Paldalmun), Jamsil 1007, and Sadang 7000 / 7001—see how to reach key points.
If you plan to ride the trolley, get off near Yeonmudae / Changnyongmun; the trolley starts only at Yeonmudae.
Trolley and parking — ₩6,000 ride, ₩900 first half-hour
The Hwaseong trolley runs Tue–Sun, 09:40–17:00 (closed Mondays): a ~30-minute loop from Yeonmudae via Hwahongmun, Janganmun, Hwaseomun, and Maehyanggyo, 20 departures a day. Adult ₩6,000 / youth·military ₩3,500 / child (36 months+) ₩2,000. No reboarding after mid-route exits; no service in rain or snow. Online booking opens through the end of the following month; same-day sales cover leftover seats. Schedule: trolley page.
Parking at Haenggung and Yeonmudae (small cars): ₩900 first 30 minutes, ₩400 each extra 10 minutes, day pass ₩14,000, 24h card-only. Large vehicles must use Yeonmudae. See parking guide. Nearby public lots (e.g. Hwahongmun) offer a free first hour on some tariffs.
