For a same-day visit to Andong’s Hahoe Folk Village, individual admission is ₩5,000 for adults, ₩2,500 for youth/uniformed visitors, and ₩1,500 for children, as listed by VisitKorea and the Digital Tourist Resident Card page. Summer hours (Apr–Sep) are 09:00–18:00 (entry closes 17:30); winter (Oct–Mar) 09:00–17:00 (entry closes 16:30), open year-round. Entrance parking is listed as free, with a free shuttle from the ticket gate to the village. Confirm by phone (054-840-3795) before you go.
Hahoe is a living Joseon-era clan village on a bend of the Nakdong River in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province, and part of the UNESCO World Heritage listing “Historic Villages of Korea: Hahoe and Yangdong.” People still live in many of the old houses, which is what makes a visit special — and also why the rules around noise and private yards matter. This guide covers fees, what the ticket includes, seasonal hours, how to get there from Seoul, and how to fit the village, the Buyongdae cliff viewpoint and nearby sights into one day.

How much is admission?
Adults ₩5,000 / youth·uniformed ₩2,500 / children ₩1,500 for individuals. Andong/Yecheon residents pay less with proof; age 65+ and certain disability categories are free (conditions for an accompanying guardian also apply, so confirm the details at the gate). The digital tourist card guidance lists adults at ₩4,000 and youth at ₩2,000. Group rates (30+) are lower. Pay what the ticket window shows on the day.

What is included?
VisitKorea mentions a free shuttle from the ticket gate to the village entrance, bike rental inside the village, and the Hahoe World Mask Museum with admission. Mask-dance showtimes change by season—check the day-of board or ask at the information centre.

What are the opening hours?
Apr–Sep 09:00–18:00 (last entry 17:30); Oct–Mar 09:00–17:00 (last entry 16:30). Open daily. Arrive late in winter and you will miss half the village. Once the entry cut-off passes, no new visitors are admitted, so if you are arriving in the afternoon, decide in advance which of the village, Buyongdae and Byeongsan Seowon you will drop. Rain or events can close paths—call ahead.
Mask dance & programs
Hahoe Byeolsingut Talnori is often listed Sat–Sun 14:00 in Jan–Feb and Tue–Sun 14:00 Mar–Dec. Performances take place at the village’s mask-dance stage. Treat the on-site schedule and the preservation society’s notices as final, since show times and rest days change by season. Traditional wedding and seasonal-rite experiences usually need separate booking.
How do I get there from Seoul?
Take KTX/ITX toward Andong, then a city bus or taxi to Hahoe. Fares and times change—use Korail (1544-7788) and Kobus. Bus numbers from Andong shift often — route 210 is frequently mentioned in guides and reviews, but routes are reorganised regularly, so follow the terminal, bus app or information centre rather than a fixed number in this article. By car, enter “Hahoe Village” or the address into your navigation app and use the entrance car park; parking is listed free but can fill and queue on peak weekends.
| Leg | Mode | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Seoul→Andong | Train / express bus | letskorail / kobus |
| Andong→Hahoe | City bus / taxi | Terminal apps |
| Gate→village | Free shuttle | After ticketing |

Suggested day itinerary
Morning village houses & Mansongjeong → lunch → Buyongdae viewpoint → optional Byeongsan Seowon or downtown Wolyeonggyo. UNESCO listing means people still live here—keep noise down and stay off private yards. Winter last entry is early; prioritize the village loop first and leave the viewpoint and the seowon for the afternoon.
Buyongdae stands on the opposite bank of the river from the village, so allow separate travel time if you want the view from the top. VisitKorea’s travel feature also singles out Buyongdae and the Mansongjeong pine forest as Hahoe’s key scenic spots. Byeongsan Seowon is close by car but too far to link comfortably on foot, so on a day trip it is safer to choose either “village + Buyongdae” or “village + seowon” rather than trying to squeeze in both.
Etiquette and crowds
Because Hahoe is a lived-in village, drones, commercial filming and loudspeakers are often restricted. If you stay overnight in a guesthouse or a head-family house, the same courtesy toward residents applies. In autumn, on weekends and during holidays, queues for tickets and the shuttle get long, so aim to arrive right at opening if you can. In winter, with the 16:30 entry cut-off, consider shortening the house-to-house walk or visiting the viewpoint first.
Budget
On costs alone, a day here is ₩5,000 adult admission, free parking and your local transport. With the Digital Tourist Resident Card the adult fare drops to ₩4,000, which adds up for a family. If you add Andong-style braised chicken (jjimdak) and an evening walk across Wolyeonggyo Bridge in the city, you can fill the hours after the village closes. KTX and bus fares vary by booking channel, so this guide does not fix them as numbers.
Sample timing
- Morning: ticket + shuttle + Yangjindang/Chunghyodang area 2–3h
- Lunch near the entrance
- Afternoon: Buyongdae ~1h → optional seowon
- Buffer 40–60 min back to Andong station/terminal

FAQ
Q. Is parking paid? A. Tourism pages list the entrance lot as free. Allow for waiting when it is full in peak season.
Q. Pets / wheelchairs? A. Pets are generally not allowed or are restricted. VisitKorea’s barrier-free information notes steps and limited elevator access, so if anyone in your group has limited mobility, ask the information centre before you go.
Q. Is the mask dance free? A. Village admission is separate; many open-air shows are free to watch—confirm the board.
Q. Same day as Yangdong Village? A. Too far for a deep visit to both; pick one or stay overnight.
