The most popular ride at Gangchon Rail Park, the Gimyujeong rail bike, costs ₩40,000 for a 2-seater and ₩56,000 for a 4-seater. The Gyeonggang course runs 4-seaters only at ₩35,000, and the Gapyeong course—where an electric motor kicks in once you pedal—costs ₩36,000 for a 2-seater and ₩48,000 for a 4-seater. You pay per bike, not per person.
Gimyujeong bikes leave nine times a day between 09:00 and 17:30, with an extra 18:30 departure on weekends and public holidays from May to October. Gyeonggang and Gapyeong run six times a day from 10:00 to 18:00. None of the three courses take same-day bookings; walk-up tickets are sold first come, first served only if any are left.
How do the Gimyujeong, Gyeonggang and Gapyeong courses differ, and what do they cost?
Each course has its own starting point and style. Gimyujeong is a one-way 6 km pedal ride, after which a “Romance Train” and a free shuttle bus bring you back. Gyeonggang and Gapyeong start from opposite ends of the same stretch of track, run 8 km out and back, and cross the Bukhangang River railway bridge.
The table below summarises the 2026 fares and set-up from the official Gangchon Rail Park operating hours and fares page. A group of three must book a 4-seater, and a group of five must book one 2-seater plus one 4-seater.
| Course | Starts at | Type and distance | Fare (per bike) | Departures a day |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gimyujeong Rail Bike | Gimyujeong boarding area (Sindong-myeon, Chuncheon) | Pedal, 6 km one way + 2.5 km Romance Train, shuttle bus back | 2-seater ₩40,000 / 4-seater ₩56,000 | 9 (10 on May–Oct weekends and holidays) |
| Gyeonggang Rail Bike | Gyeonggang Station (Namsan-myeon, Chuncheon) | 8 km round trip, motor assists on the uphill electric section | 4-seater ₩35,000 / Pet bike ₩45,000 | 6 |
| Gapyeong Rail Bike | Gapyeong boarding area (Gapyeong-eup, Gapyeong) | Electric, 8 km round trip (turns at Gyeonggang Station) | 2-seater ₩36,000 / 4-seater ₩48,000 | 6 |
What does it cost per person?
Four people sharing a ₩56,000 Gimyujeong 4-seater pay ₩14,000 each, and two people on a 2-seater pay ₩20,000 each. Three people still need a 4-seater, so it works out at about ₩18,700 each, and five people pay ₩40,000 + ₩56,000 = ₩96,000, or ₩19,200 each.
Gyeonggang is the cheapest: four people splitting a ₩35,000 4-seater pay ₩8,750 each. There is no 2-seater there, though, so a couple still pays ₩35,000—₩17,500 each. Four people on a ₩48,000 Gapyeong 4-seater pay ₩12,000 each.
Are there discounts in October?
Discounts are 30% for students who have just sat the national college entrance exam (from the day after the exam to 31 January), 20% for Chuncheon and Gapyeong residents, 20% for people with disabilities and national merit recipients, and 10% for groups of 30 or more people or 8 or more bikes. Discounts cannot be combined. You book at the full price, then show proof at the ticket office on the day and get the difference back.
May and October are peak season, so the group discount does not apply. Disability, merit and resident discounts apply in any season, but the resident discount is only given when tickets are issued on site. For example, four Chuncheon residents on a Gimyujeong 4-seater pay ₩56,000 minus 20%, or ₩44,800.

What time do the bikes leave in October?
On weekdays the Gimyujeong rail bike leaves at 09:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:30, 14:30, 15:30, 16:30 and 17:30—nine departures. On October weekends and public holidays a tenth departure is added at 18:30. Gyeonggang and Gapyeong leave six times, at 10:00, 11:30, 13:30, 15:00, 16:30 and 18:00, and you need to be at the boarding area 20 minutes before your slot.
A Korea Tourism Organization article written in April 2024 lists “May and October, 09:00–18:30, 10 runs a day”, but the official 2026 timetable runs the tenth slot only on weekends and holidays. If you are going on a weekday afternoon, remember that the last Gimyujeong departure is 17:30.
| Course | Departure times | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Gimyujeong (slots 1–9) | 09:00 · 10:00 · 11:00 · 12:00 · 13:30 · 14:30 · 15:30 · 16:30 · 17:30 | Daily |
| Gimyujeong (slot 10) | 18:30 | May–Oct weekends and holidays only |
| Gyeonggang (incl. pet bike) | 10:00 · 11:30 · 13:30 · 15:00 · 16:30 · 18:00 | 4-seaters only |
| Gapyeong | 10:00 · 11:30 · 13:30 · 15:00 · 16:30 · 18:00 | 18:00 slot is the Starry Night Bike |
Holidays and weather
On Lunar New Year’s Day and Chuseok, Gimyujeong runs from slot 5 (13:30), and Gyeonggang, Gapyeong and the pet bike from slot 4 (15:00). Bikes run in rain and snow, but a sudden turn in the weather such as a downpour or heavy snow can stop them without notice; when the company cancels for weather, you get a full refund.
Gapyeong’s last departure at 18:00 is run as the “Starry Night Bike”, with lights along the track. On an October evening, when the days are getting shorter, it feels quite different from the daytime rides.

How do you get to Gimyujeong Station from Seoul by public transport?
The Gimyujeong rail bike is about a 3-minute walk from Gimyujeong Station on the Gyeongchun Line, which makes it the easiest course to reach without a car. Take a Gyeongchun Line train from Sangbong Station and get off at Gimyujeong. If you take the ITX-Cheongchun from Yongsan or Cheongnyangni, get off at Namchuncheon (or Gangchon), change to a local Gyeongchun Line train and ride to Gimyujeong.
The official directions page gives the address as 1383 Gimyujeong-ro, Sindong-myeon, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do. By car, leave the Seoul–Yangyang Expressway at Gangchon IC or Namchuncheon IC and search for “Gangchon Rail Park Gimyujeong Station” in your navigation app. Expect traffic on weekends and in peak season.
- Gyeonggang Rail Bike (57 Seobaek-gil, Namsan-myeon, Chuncheon) is about 3 minutes by taxi from Gulbongsan Station on the Gyeongchun Line, or about 20 minutes by taxi from Gapyeong Station if you come on the ITX-Cheongchun.
- Gapyeong Rail Bike (14 Jangteo-gil, Gapyeong-eup, Gapyeong-gun) is about 10 minutes by taxi from Gapyeong Station (Gyeongchun Line and ITX-Cheongchun), or about a 10-minute walk from Gapyeong Intercity Bus Terminal.
- The public car park at the Gapyeong Rail Bike is free for two hours for rail bike riders.
If you are using a rail pass for the ITX, our KORAIL Pass guide explains how it works.
Gimyujeong is one way, so you come back by shuttle
From the Gimyujeong boarding area you pedal through four themed tunnels—Pink Muhly, Bubble, Milky Way and Club—and leave the bike at the Midpoint Rest Stop, 6 km along. There you switch to the Romance Train for another 2.5 km; from its drop-off area, follow the blue line on the ground to the free shuttle bus back to Gimyujeong Station.
Drinks and snacks bought at the Book Café on Gimyujeong Plaza before you set off can be taken on the rail bike. If you want to add Nami Island to the same day, see our Nami Island day-trip guide.

How do you book and cancel, and how much is refunded?
A booking is confirmed only once you have paid on the website, and same-day bookings are not accepted. If you cancel by 23:59 on the day you booked, you get a full refund whatever your ride date. After that it is a full refund up to three days before departure, 20% deducted two days before, 30% deducted one day before, 50% deducted up to one hour before departure on the day, and no refund after that.
Under the official reservation guide, you cannot change the date, time or number of bikes once a booking is confirmed; to change anything, cancel and book again. Bank-transfer bookings are cancelled automatically if payment is not received by 23:00 on the booking day. Here is what you get back on a ₩56,000 Gimyujeong 4-seater.
| When you cancel | Deduction | Refund on a ₩56,000 Gimyujeong 4-seater |
|---|---|---|
| By 23:59 on the booking day | None | ₩56,000 |
| 3 days before | None | ₩56,000 |
| 2 days before | 20% | ₩44,800 |
| 1 day before | 30% | ₩39,200 |
| On the day, up to 1 hour before | 50% | ₩28,000 |
| Later, or no-show | No refund | ₩0 |
The same refund rules apply in rain, and if you booked through a travel agency or reseller, their terms apply instead. On the day, bring the booking number starting with “RS” from your confirmation text to speed up ticketing.
Riding with children or a dog
Children aged 36 months and over must sit in a seat and wear a seat belt. Children under 36 months are not allowed in principle, but if you bring a document showing their age and sign a safety waiver at the ticket office, a guardian can hold them on board. Keep at least 10 m from the bikes in front and behind, or 50 m in the rain.
If your dog is coming, choose the pet bike at Gyeonggang Station (₩45,000). It is a 4-seater fitted with a dog seat, taking up to two dogs with a combined weight of 10 kg or less. Only vaccinated dogs aged three months or older are admitted, and the pet bike does not run in the rain—bookings are refunded in full. Dogs are not allowed on the Gimyujeong and Gapyeong courses in principle, although a fully enclosed carrier held on your lap may be allowed after an on-site check.

FAQ
Q. How much is the Gimyujeong rail bike?
A. ₩40,000 for a 2-seater and ₩56,000 for a 4-seater, priced per bike. A group of three needs a 4-seater; a group of five needs one 2-seater and one 4-seater.
Q. Is there an 18:30 ride on October weekdays?
A. No. The tenth Gimyujeong departure (18:30) runs only on weekends and public holidays from May to October, so the last weekday departure is 17:30. Gyeonggang and Gapyeong finish with an 18:00 departure every day.
Q. Can I just turn up and ride on the day?
A. Same-day booking is not available; walk-up tickets are sold first come, first served only from cancellations or unsold seats. When a slot sells out there are no walk-up tickets, so booking by the day before is safer.
Q. How much do I get back if I cancel the day before?
A. A cancellation one day before departure is refunded minus 30%. On a ₩56,000 Gimyujeong 4-seater, that is ₩39,200.
