Taejongdae Park on Yeongdo, Busan is free to enter on foot—no gate ticket for cliff walks. The Danubi loop train is the paid piece: per Busan Infrastructure Corporation (BISCO) tables effective 2023-01-01, adults ₩4,000 loop / ₩2,000 one-way, youth ₩2,000, children (age 2–elementary) ₩1,500. See the BISCO Danubi fare page (archive). As of mid-2026, however, Danubi has been suspended after safety incidents, and Busan Tourism Organization is reviewing operations while running a free shuttle, according to Newsis (18 Aug 2026). Call 051-405-8745 before you go.
Taejongdae is a clifftop park at the southern tip of Yeongdo island in Busan, known for sea views, rocky shores and its lighthouse. For most of its history the visit has been simple: walk in for free, and ride the Danubi road train around the loop if you do not want to walk the whole way. In 2026 the train situation is unsettled, so this guide separates what is stable (free entry, the walking route) from what you need to check on the day (whether Danubi or the free shuttle is running), and covers transport, parking and a realistic day plan.

Free entry vs Danubi fares
Park walking is free. When Danubi runs, published fares are adult loop ₩4,000 / one-way ₩2,000; youth (middle–high school) loop ₩2,000; child loop ₩1,500; groups of 30+ adult loop ₩3,000. Under 24 months free; age 65+ and Yeongdo residents ₩3,000; disability/patriots’ card ₩2,000. In 2026 you may pay nothing for transit inside the park if only the free shuttle/walking is available—verify on the day. Fares may change when service resumes.
| Category | Loop | One-way | Note |

If the train is not running
Newsis reports accidents involving the train’s coupling sections in Apr and Jul 2026, after which service stopped again. Busan Tourism Organization is reviewing options ranging from shorter consists to a different mode of transport altogether, with the aim of settling an operating plan within the year. Meanwhile a free circulating shuttle runs to reduce inconvenience for visitors. Check the ticket booth or entrance board for shuttle times and boarding points.

What the train would cost your group
If Danubi is running on your visit, the published loop fares make the maths simple. Two adults and one primary-school child would pay ₩4,000 × 2 + ₩1,500 = ₩9,500 for the loop. A couple riding one way only and walking back would pay ₩2,000 × 2 = ₩4,000. Visitors aged 65 or over and Yeongdo residents pay ₩3,000 with ID, and children under 24 months ride free. Youth fares cannot be combined with other discounts. Remember these figures date from the 2023 table, and the operator has said fares and timetables may be revised when service resumes — so treat them as a guide and check the booth on the day.
Before you set off
Call 051-405-8745 (Busan Tourism Organization) to ask whether Danubi or the free shuttle is running, check the entrance notice board when you arrive, and plan your route so that the walk alone would still work if neither is available. Comfortable shoes and a layer for the wind make the clifftop paths far more enjoyable.
Danubi closed days (standard rule)
BISCO’s rule is closed every Monday (if Monday is a holiday, runs that day and rests the next). Peak seasons sometimes posted daily service—day-of notices win. Bad weather such as rain or strong wind can stop trains for safety. The same page notes that ticketing may close 2–3 hours before the last run.
Walking only?
Yes. Taejongdae is a park you explore on foot — clifftop trails, viewpoints, the lighthouse and the gravel beach area (Jagalmadang) fill a half day without the train. The loop road is long, though, so plan for heat, wind and your group’s stamina. Ask at the gate about slopes and surfaces for stroller/wheelchair access.
Parking and transit
Paid lots exist, but this research pass did not lock a single official rate table, so amounts are omitted—follow boards or call 051-405-8745. Enter “Taejongdae Resort Park” in your navigation app. Expect queues to enter car parks in peak season. Buses/taxis from Busan Station, Seomyeon, or Nampo toward Yeongdo are common; route numbers change—use live bus apps. Metro alone does not reach the gate, so leave time for a transfer.
| Leg | Mode | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Downtown → Taejongdae | Bus / taxi | Apps |
| Inside park | Walk / Danubi / free shuttle | Gate board |
| Parking | Paid zones | Rate board |

Suggested day plan
Gate → cliff viewpoints / lighthouse → gravel beach → (if running) Danubi or free shuttle → Yeongdo/Nampo dinner. Hold kids’ hands near railings. Budget: ₩0 entry + (if running) adult loop ₩4,000 + parking/transit/food. Prefer the tourism-org phone over social posts when service is unstable.
On windy days, take your photos at the clifftop railings and move on rather than lingering. If you are aiming for sunrise or sunset, check the seasonal times in advance and allow generous time for the walk in and out.
If Danubi has resumed, a loop ticket lets you hop between the main stops and save energy. If it is still suspended, match your walk to the shuttle interval — walk one section, ride the next. Taejongdae mixes park and residential areas, so loudspeakers, unauthorised commercial filming and drones may be restricted. For meals and coffee, the entrance area and Yeongdo are the most convenient. While the train is out of service, your in-park transport costs shift toward the shuttle and walking, so check the tourism organisation’s phone line and entrance notices before relying on reviews.
Sample timing
- Morning: parking + views 2 h
- Lunch in Yeongdo/Nampo
- Afternoon: beach walk or shuttle loop
- 40 min buffer back downtown
