How much is the Camellia train?
The Camellia train publishes one-way fares only. Adults pay ₩1,000. The discount fare is ₩500 (ages 65+, Yeosu residents, ages 7–19, university students). National merit recipients, persons with disabilities, children aged 6 and under, and Yeosu residents aged 65+ ride free. There is no official round-trip price—budget for two one-way tickets if you ride both directions. See the facilities page for the live table.
| Category | One-way fare | Who qualifies |
|---|---|---|
| Adult (general) | ₩1,000 | — |
| Discount | ₩500 | Ages 65+, Yeosu residents, ages 7–19, university students |
| Exempt | ₩0 | National merit, disability, ages ≤6, Yeosu residents 65+ |
The route is 1.2 km, linking the Odongdo entrance with the boarding point beside the Music Fountain. The breakwater itself is 768 m and open to the train, bicycles, and walkers. On foot, the crossing from the entrance lot to the island takes about 15 minutes. Take the train if you have kids or luggage; walk if the weather is good and you want the sea views.
Sample fares for families and residents
Two adults (general) plus one middle-school student (discount) cost ₩2,500 one-way (₩1,000 + ₩1,000 + ₩500). The same group riding both ways, counted as two one-ways each, comes to ₩5,000. One Yeosu-resident adult plus one elementary-school child is ₩1,000 one-way (₩500 + ₩500). A Yeosu resident aged 65+ rides free. Discount and exempt fares may require ID—bring proof to the ticket window. Note the split for seniors: a general visitor aged 65+ pays the ₩500 discount fare, while a Yeosu resident aged 65+ is exempt.

When does the Camellia train run—and what about the lunch break?
In summer (the default season) the train runs 09:30–18:00. From November through February it shortens to 09:30–17:00. Both seasons pause for lunch: no service from 12:00 to 13:00. Official timetables also list first and last trains for each direction. In the longer (summer) set, the last trains are about inbound 17:50 and outbound 17:40; the shorter (winter) set wraps up around inbound 17:00 and outbound 16:45. Trust on-site announcements and same-day notices over the printed sheet.
| Season | Operating window | Lunch |
|---|---|---|
| Summer (default) | 09:30–18:00 | 12:00–13:00 no service |
| Winter (Nov–Feb) | 09:30–17:00 | 12:00–13:00 no service |
Show up near midday expecting an immediate ride and the lunch gap will leave you waiting. Walk the breakwater instead, or wait for the first departure after 13:00. The first inbound train is listed at 09:30; the first outbound at 09:15—check which end you board from.
Last trains and getting around the island
Private cars are not allowed onto the island itself. After you leave the entrance area, plan your walk, fountain stop, and return around the last train. Winter last trains are earlier, so do not reuse a summer schedule in November–February. If you want camellia photos and a leisurely loop, head out earlier in the afternoon—especially in winter, when daylight and train hours both shrink.
How does Odongdo parking work?
The entrance lot is free for the first 30 minutes, then charges ₩500 every 30 minutes, with a daily maximum of ₩5,000. There is no day pass. Lot hours are 07:00–22:00 in summer and 07:30–22:00 in winter. Compact cars, national merit recipients, persons with disabilities, and low-emission vehicles get a 50% discount (merit and disability discounts need ID—without it, the discount does not apply). Payment is by credit card. Exit within 5 minutes of entry and the fee is waived. Allowed vehicles: passenger cars, vans (≤12 seats), and trucks under 1 ton.
| Item | Official rule |
|---|---|
| Fee | First 30 min free → +₩500 / 30 min → daily max ₩5,000 |
| Day pass | None |
| Hours | Summer 07:00–22:00 / Winter 07:30–22:00 |
| 50% discount | Compact, national merit, disability, low-emission (bring ID) |
| Waiver | Exit within 5 minutes of entry |
| Allowed vehicles | Passenger · van (≤12 seats) · truck (<1 ton) |
What parking costs by stay length
One hour costs ₩500 (30 minutes free + one paid 30-minute block). Two hours cost ₩1,500 (free 30 minutes + three paid blocks). Three hours cost ₩2,500. Leave the car all day and you stop at the ₩5,000 cap. A quick in-and-out under five minutes is free. With the compact-car 50% discount, those amounts halve—about ₩750 for two hours. Keep any discount ID ready at the pay machine or booth.
Fountain seasons and how to get there
The music fountain runs March–October. The floor fountain runs July–August. Rain or strong wind can cancel shows, and fountain water is not drinking water. Music-fountain windows are typically :00–:15 and :30–:45 each hour, weekdays about 11:00–20:00 and weekends 10:00–20:00. Floor-fountain windows are weekdays 11:00–19:00 and weekends 10:00–19:00, with :15–:30 and :45–:00 slots. To catch both in one visit, aim for a July–August weekend afternoon.
